Time and again ordinary people have served our Nation in extraordinary ways so that all Americans can pursue the happiness our Founding Fathers envisioned. By their service, they have kept America strong and they have protected our way of life.

Animals can also play an important role in our daily lives. They supply us with an unconditional love, protection and loyalty only an animal can give. We would like to thank our Veterans by pairing them up with a homeless animal that has so much to offer.

Who Qualifies?

Any resident of Bannock, Bingham, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida or Power County who is serving in the armed forces or is a Veteran qualifies for the program.

What does the program pay for?

The program pays 75% of the regular adoption fee at the Pocatello Animal Shelter (based on available funding). Call the Shelter for current adoption rates.

What does the adoption fee cover?

Dogs – Fee covers spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, license, microchip, 1-2 parvo-distemper vaccinations, collar and leash.

Cats – Fee covers spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, 1-2 upper respiratory/distemper vaccinations, feline leukemia/aids testing, collar and carry box.

My landlord wants my pet to be certified for housing. Can this program help?

Your landlord has valid concerns about allowing you to have a pet in your home. Our adoption program includes most of the vaccinations required, talk to the shelter staff for more information.

All adoptions must follow regular adoption policies and procedures set in place by the Pocatello Animal Shelter.
